Groundbreaking research by CBRE Netherlands and the University of Twente confirms the strong connection between workplace design and employee health, well-being, and performance. A key finding: circadian lighting—lighting that supports the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle—plays a crucial role in improving mental balance, energy levels, and productivity throughout the workday.
Over seven months, researchers tracked the effects of healthy office features—including circadian lighting, natural spaces, healthy food, and support for physical and mental wellness—on 124 employees. The results showed not only improved performance at work but also a ripple effect of healthier habits outside the office. This is known as the “snowball effect.”
